96 Pts 5 Stars Bob Campbell MW. He said...

"A blend of wines from Bannockburn, Bendigo and Lowburn. Fragrant, attractive aroma of black cherry and red rose petals that continues onto the palate where it is joined by plum, crushed herbs and grape stem flavours. Fruit sweetness is nicely balanced by fine, ripe tannins to give a pleasantly dry finish. Youthful but approachable with obvious cellaring potential...Ageing: now to 2030."

Truly beautiful Pinot noir a real iron fist in a velvet glove.

"The 2017 vintage was estate grown in the Calvert Vineyard at Bannockburn and North Burn Vineyard, on the east coast of Lake Dunstan. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, it was matured for a year in French oak barrels ( 30% New). A powerful, softly seductive red, it is deeply coloured and mouthfilling, concentrated and supple. with rich cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, youthful and very harmonious. Best drinking 2022+." Michael Cooper

"Good depth of youthful red/purple colour, with a rich, ripe dark cherry aroma, and undertones of sous bois and subtle vanilla, quite delicious. It's soft and fruity throughout the palate with sotto voce oak and supple, gentle but present tannins. This ticks all the boxes: a benchmark wine. It doesn't pall, but delights to the last." Huon Hooke

"Cloudy Bay’s Central Otago Pinot Noir is a boldly fruited wine with damson plum and black cherry aromas plus some dried thyme giving a savoury edge but still retaining a lovely violet floral lift. The palate walks the line between ripe silky fruit and finely grained, cinnamon-edged tannin. A dense, impressive wine that is already approachable though would benefit from another couple of years in bottle." Jane Skilton MW
