The wine store with passion

Wine drinking has a very, very important rule: drink what you like! But never be afraid to try something new or different. Wine drinking should be fun, free of much of the garbage that interferes with the rest of our lives. It should be a catalyst for social intercourse. It should be pleasurable and memorable, it should be savoured and discussed, it should be fun.

Waipara Springs Reserve Premo Chardonnay 2014

$21.99

93 Points 5 Stars WineObit. They said...
"Opulent and richly flavoured, the complex bouquet shows yellow stone fruit, mango, vanilla and cedar characters with nuances of oatmeal and butterscotch. The palate is concentrated and generously fruited, and offers layers of gorgeous flavours backed by well-integrated acidity. The finish is persistent, expansive and very satisfying..."

Il Meridiane Nero d'Avola 2014

$14.99

This wine is juicy, lush and very morish. Ripe black cherry, dark plum and smooth berry fruit are on the agenda. Smoky, savoury, a hint of bitter chocolate, a long smooth palate with depth and soft tannins. It is well balanced in a medium bodied frame.
We tried this wine with a series of other American and European imports, it was a star. Incredible buying for so very, very little. We were mightily impressed.
This wine comes from Sicily, not the more Southern regions of Italy that this variety is noted as coming from.

Gran Tesoro Campo de Borja Garnacha 2014

$15.99

A lovely Spanish Garnacha (Grenache) that has body and charm to burn. There is real palate weight and character in this wine. Juicy deep red brambly fruit, plum and berry. Sweet and mouth-filling spice with a long smooth and enticing pallet with a great long finish.
Soft and very approachable. This wine is a great example of what can be done with this grape variety. A very positive and delightful drop.

Parson's Paddock Langhorne Creek 2016 Shiraz

$16.99

New to our market and a great new kid on the Block. For those of you who like the Mt Monster Shiraz, Pirrimimma Katunga Shiraz and Morambro Creek Shiraz this wine is from the same script.
It is inky black; loaded with chocolate, mocha, deep blackberry fruit on the nose and palate. It is intense and bright with depth and power seldom seen at at this price point. The reviews to date of this newly released wine have been good without being spectacular, we are sure that this will change in the future.

Twelfth Night Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

$19.99

4 Stars 17.5/20 Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
"Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with a little garnet on the rim. The bouquet is soft and full, with a well-packed core of savoury dark-red berry fruit harmoniously interwoven with aromas of thyme herbs and some earthy and game-like detail showing the beginnings of secondary interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate is soft and fulsome with gently rich, savoury flavours of dark-red berry fruits...and nuances of game and earth. The fruit richness is balanced by plenty of fine-grained tannin structure providing good line and grip...a lingering, sustained finish. This is a fulsome, rich-fruited Pinot Noir with structure and grip, showing the beginnings of savoury, secondary earth and game notes. Serve with coq au vin and casseroles over the next 5-6 years..."
In Short: Full, ripe and lush with a lovely savoury note.

Beach House Selection Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2016

$18.99

Great New Release
Year after year this super wine is an absolute winner. The 2016 is no exception. In fact it might be one of the very best yet. Bright citrus fruit, mealy complexity and wonderfully approachable very early, it has the ability to age for a very long time also. 2016 was a super Hawkes Bay vintage and it shows in this wine.
We first tasted it with the Beach House Reserve Chardonnays: The Levels and The Track from 2016. We were amazed at its quality and felt it was right up with the big brother that sells for over $30.00. This wine is extremely classy and will reward cellaring.

Trophy & Gold Hawkes Bay Wine Competition 2016
"The wine has a lovely ruby red colour and exhibits an array of different aromas including damson, violets, dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice and cloves. On the palate the wine is rich and robust with firm tannins coming from both the fruit and the oak. Dark sweet fruits and tar flavours highlight this dense but perfectly balanced Cabernet Franc.A stunning example of Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Franc from one of Hawke’s Bays greatest vintages." Beach House Wines
This is a brilliant example of both the grape and the area that it is from. A great, smooth, intense drop that has huge appeal.
